Patient Education
Patients admitted to the hospital will be provided with information about their illness. Sometimes, patients with an acute health problem may have other chronic health problems. If that is the case, appropriate instructions will be provided to the patient and/or family member(s) responsible. The patient's education may be comprised of videos, written materials, or counseling sessions. A team of educators comprised of Nursing, Nutrition Services, Respiratory Care Services, Rehabilitation Services, Pharmacy, Pastoral Services and the Patient Education Coordinator will be available to the patient. Other departments may become involved based on the patient's needs. Patient education is an important part of discharge planning and will be provided.

Mail
Mail is delivered to patients each day. Special delivery mail is delivered upon receipt. Any mail received after discharge will be forwarded.

Visiting Hours
Visiting hours are 8:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. For Critical Care patients, special arrangements can be made to visit after 9 p.m. All nighttime visits after 9 p.m. are made by coming through the Emergency Room entrance.
Parking
Free parking is available in the parking areas adjacent to the hospital that are marked for "Patients and Visitors," respectively. The hospital is not responsible for damages to vehicles in its parking lots unless caused by a staff member in the performance of assigned duties, or for thefts of or from vehicles.
Security
A security staff provides 24-hour coverage and patrols the medical center facilities, grounds and parking areas.
Valuables and Cash
Baptist Easley Hospital does not accept responsibility for misplaced or stolen cash or personal items such as dentures, glasses, hearing aids, jewelry or cameras. We encourage patients to leave valuables at home for safekeeping. Patients must advise nursing/staff if they have cash and or valuables that require safekeeping. Records are kept and receipts are provided to those who request the hospital to provide safekeeping of their valuables or cash.
Internet Access
Palmetto Health now offers free, wireless Internet access. Patients and visitors can use a Wi-Fi connection to work from their own wireless devices while at any Palmetto Health hospital.
Dentures
A patient notifying a nurse of dentures will have it noted on his or her chart and receive a denture cup. The dentures must be kept in the denture cup to avoid loss.
Smoking Policy
In the interest of everyone's health and safety, smoking is prohibited in all buildings, and at all public entrances to buildings 24 hours a day. As a community leader in the anti-smoking campaign, the hospital actively discourages smoking on the grounds and in the parking lots.
Quality
We ask that every patient who visits our hospital complete a survey questionnaire, administered by Press-Ganey, Inc. Your comments help us to improve our services, including our patient care. Every response is entered into a quarterly drawing for $200.00. If, while you are in the hospital, your experiences don't meet your expectations, or you would like to make a suggestion, please call our Service Excellence Line at extension 27843, or call 442-7843.
Food and Nutrition Services
Baptist Easley Hospital's department of Food and Nutrition Services is dedicated to providing quality, nutrition meals and excellent service. A member of the food service staff visits patients within the first day or two of their stay to determine food preferences. Although the menu has been pre-selected, every attempt is made to honor special requests and substitutions, within the limits of the physician's diet order. For family members who cannot leave a patient's bedside, guest trays may be ordered through the business office.
Fleetwood Station Café
Our dining room is open to the public. Our hours of operation are:
Breakfast: 6:45-9:30 a.m.
Lunch: 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m.
Dinner: 4-6:30 p.m.

Vending Machines
Vending Machines are located at the entrance to the cafeteria and in waiting rooms near the Emergency Room, CCU, Inpatient and Outpatient Surgery and The BirthPlace.
Case Management
A Nurse Case Manager will be assigned to coordinate your care during and after your hospital stay. This nurse will work closely with all staff caring for you to ensure that the treatment plan is carried out effectively and efficiently. The Discharge Planning Nurse will assist you and your Case Manager to make arrangements as needed for home care services or equipment.
If you need to stay in a Skilled Nursing facility, Retirement Home or a Rehabilitation facility after discharge, the Discharge Planning Nurse will assist your family to make those arrangements. This nurse will be able to explain the rules, regulations and requirements of Medicare, Medicaid or private insurance with respect to extended hospital stays or Long Term care.
Injury, illness or disability can be emotionally stressful for individuals and families. Your Case Manager will discuss your concerns with you or your family offering support and assistance as needed. Referrals can be made to social workers or counselors, if appropriate.
To reach any of the staff from Case Management, you may ask your nurse to contact them for you, or dial "0" and ask the Operator to assist you.
Special Needs
Patients requiring assistance for special needs such as hearing impariments, closed captioning, sign language, etc. should notify their nurse.
Flowers
Flowers and gifts are delivered Monday through Friday. Flowers for patients in Intensive Care are returned to the florist for re-delivery when the patient is assigned a regular room. Flowers for discharged patients are returned to the florist. Do NOT send or bring latex-containing products, such as rubber balloons to the hospital, as they may cause serious medical problems for latex-allergic patients, visitors and staff.
